Luke Murrell – Australian Bloodstock

by David on August 14, 2012

Here is an interview with Luke Murrell from Australian Bloodstock. You may not recognise the name, but you will know the horses he has bought such as Lucas Cranach, Mawingo and Master Of Design.

Listen in as Luke talks about:

  • How to identify horses early in their career with Group 1 potential
  • Why he won’t buy from certain big trainers
  • The relative importance of sectional times, videos, breeeding and type
  • The toughness of German horses
  • Why UK and Irish horses are unsuited to Australian racing
  • This year’s Caulfield and Melbourne Cups
  • Why Atlantic Jewel is a ridiculous Cox Plate price

Hello David,
You have delivered many informative interviews and a new benchmark was achieved with Luke Murrell.
Australia seems to have gone “import a stayer crazy” and it was a delight to hear an Aussie who actually applies a native ingenuity and commonsense. I am certain that any prospective buyer listening would want to meet Luke. I am impressed with the way you conduct your business with an old world courtesy and decency .

May your returns be of substance, always.

Yeah it’s interesting Roy how form study, favourite bet types, training, riding styles and so much more varies from country to country.
