Do I need to have experience using ratings?

Not at all. We're happy to walk you through the basics and you will soon see how easy it is to back the overlays. And you will find our customer support is very helpful in answering any questions.

What time are the ratings available?

Our Senior Form Analyst and his team are very much hands-on in compiling each race we cover, so after updating the ratings for track conditions and scratchings they are normally emailed to you around midday AEST. These are not automated ratings spat out by a computer so it's not possible to have them to you any earlier.

What about the SMS and live page updates?

As well as getting the ratings by email around lunchtime each Tuesday to Saturday, you will also get the SMS update approximately 10 minutes before each race.

We also update a live page which gives you up-to-the-minute information about which horses to back. It also has extra information about market movement, exotics and lay betting advice.

How much do you suggest I bet?

When you receive your daily ratings markets you can enter your unit value and the sheet will automatically show you exactly how much to invest on each horse.

You must have a starting bank of 100 units, so simply divide the amount of money you have set aside for punting by 100.

Eg. $10,000 bank = $100 per unit

or

$3000 bank = $30 per unit

Will there be ratings for every race? If not, which races will be targeted?

We rate most metro races in NSW, Victoria and Queensland but don't recommend betting into all of them. We generally bet into 30-40 events each week and red-code races that are poor betting mediums. So as a subscriber you receive our rated prices for those races but we avoid betting in those events because there are too many unknown quantities. Identifying the best betting races is very important in any punter's long-term success and we prefer to concentrate on races where horses have sufficient disclosed form and have developed a racing pattern.

We largely avoid maidens, Ratings Band 60-70 races where the quality is poor, races where the large majority of runners are resuming, second up or drawn poorly. We also steer clear of races that have more than 3 or 4 genuine winning chances. There are plenty of races these days so why take uncalculated risks on races that are potential bankrobbers?

Are the ratings suited for betting exotics/multiples?

Yes. The ratings will identify the better chances for exotic betting such as quinellas and exactas, however whether you get value through the TAB's and how you bet will determine your success. What the ratings provide you with is professional, thoroughly researched information and a very good indication of the chance of each horse. The two other factors required to be successful are both left in your hands: (1) discipline and (2) securing good prices.

The favourite's price is well under your rated price, does that mean it can't win?

No, it may well win but at the odds available we don't consider it to be value. And please note that many horses will start under our rated price since our
market is framed to 100%.

As an example a horse rated at $2.50 has a 40% winning chance. So for a 'normal' 100 race sample, 40 of these will win and 60 will lose.

Taking less than $2.50 may well see you win short-term but eventually you will lose.

What happens if there is a change in track conditions during the day?

Our SMS service and live updates page enables us to update our assessments for any change in track conditions and modify our bets accordingly.
